Banned Items
While our dumpsters and cubic yard containers are ideal solutions for waste disposal, it’s important to note that certain items are banned due to safety, environmental, and regulatory concerns. Violating waste disposal regulations can result in significant fines and penalties. Specific reasons for these restrictions include:
- Hazardous Materials. Hazardous materials such as chemicals, pesticides, batteries, flammable substances, and certain electronics pose significant risks to human health, wildlife, and the environment. Dumpsters are not designed for the special containment and disposal methods these hazardous materials require to ensure safe and proper treatment.
- Environmental Protection. Dumpsters are not suitable for items like oil, paint, gasoline, solvents, and other household chemicals that can contaminate groundwater and soil if disposed of improperly.
- Legal & Regulatory Compliance. Local and regional governments have specific laws and regulations in place regarding waste disposal. Prohibiting certain items from being placed in dumpsters helps ensure compliance and encourages individuals and businesses to utilize collection programs and designated facilities.
- Safety. Dumpsters are manually handled by workers who may inadvertently come into contact with items that can cause harm. Used needles, broken glass, medical waste, and hazardous materials require special handling and disposal to prevent injury or disease.
- Weight Limitations. Dumpsters have specific weight and size limits to prevent damage during transportation. Exceeding these limits can lead to accidents and safety hazards.
Consult the list of banned items below prior to scheduling a dumpster rental. If any of these items find their way into your dumpster, you will be required to remove them prior to pick up. If you are unsure of how to dispose of them, contact us and we’ll help you find a suitable outlet for disposal.
